The Department of Veterinary Biostatistics
operates with the aim of teaching and advancing statistical methods that play a
fundamental role in the collection, analysis, interpretation, and derivation of
scientific results from biological data. Our department aims to provide
undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary medicine students and researchers
with knowledge of scientific research methods and statistical analysis
techniques. In this context, students receive both theoretical and practical
training in topics such as experimental design, data analysis, hypothesis
testing, analysis of variance, regression models, and both parametric and
non-parametric methods.
At the undergraduate level, students gain
foundational knowledge in statistics, while postgraduate programs focus on
advanced statistical analysis techniques, experimental design, modeling,
hypothesis testing, variance and regression analysis, biometric applications,
and data mining. The department aims to equip students with the ability to
correctly plan scientific studies, collect data, conduct analysis, and
interpret results in a reliable manner. In addition, integration with emerging
fields such as bioinformatics and epidemiological analysis is also provided.
Biostatistics, as an essential part of veterinary
education, plays a vital role in ensuring the scientific validity of
experimental studies, analyzing epidemiological data, evaluating public health
risks, and promoting evidence-based veterinary practices. As a
research-oriented discipline, biostatistics is critical in ensuring the
scientific accuracy and reliability of experimental and observational studies
in veterinary medicine. The accurate analysis of data in subfields such as
animal health, epidemiology, food safety, genetics, and animal nutrition is
indispensable for the reliability of scientific knowledge.
Our department maintains a collaborative
structure open to interdisciplinary cooperation, conducting joint projects with
other departments on thesis supervision, research design, and data analysis.
Additionally, it promotes the use of statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, SAS)
and continuously updates its knowledge base in line with technological
developments.
With its commitment to quality education and research, our department strives to advance scientific progress and support the development of statistical thinking, which forms the foundation of scientific accuracy and reliability in veterinary medicine.
